A r t m i s s i o n

Christine Bonansea is a multi disciplinary performer artist, choreographer and teacher based in Berlin and New York city.
She practiced a great variety of movement and art performance techniques and developed her artistic voice through her international collaborations for 20 years. She’s challenged the dynamics of live performance within the diversity of environments and researches through her professional career as a dancer and choreographer cumulating experiences that informed her projects. She is generating innovative choreographic forms for live performance.

Each piece cover a broad artistic field, featured an integrated and participatory process carried out in collaboration with artists, experimenters, accustomed to taking risks.
Rich of various medium as theater, sound composition, visual design, video, she leverages artistic expression as a virtuous cycle of truth telling and visualization. Her movement vocabulary is sculpted by improvisation and innovation: she strives to create experimental forms rich in visual intensity and physical tension.

Bonansea strongly believes that interaction and dialogue between diverse artists and communities are the key to transcending the potential of choreography and theatrical dramaturgy. Her work inhabits the intersection of artistic practice and philosophy, inquiring our time.
She poses existential questions that challenge the mainstream notions about the human condition. She draws on visceral emotions that engage audiences personally and socially. Each of her pieces embodies the contradictions of contemporary life, fractured sense of self, and our discontinuous, collage sense of being-in-the-world.

She conceives choreographic lives performance as an art platform for critical inquiries, a reflection that display of humanity.
